Letter Thief
Start with a word. Steal one letter. Rearrange what’s left into a new, shorter word, and keep going until there’s nothing left to take.
That’s the whole rule. The skill is in choosing which letter to steal. PLANET can become PLANE, then PANE, then PAN, then AN. Take the wrong letter early and the chain dies three moves before it should.
Five ways to play
-
01
Classic
Build the longest chain you can from a single seed word.
-
02
Daily
One new word every day, the same one for every player. Keep your streak going.
-
03
Time Attack
Race the clock through nonstop chains. Hit a dead end and a fresh word deals in instantly.
-
04
Challenges
48 heist cases. Each one gives you a start word, a target, and the exact number of moves to get there. Read the briefing, then make the extraction.
-
05
Endless
Every deal gets a little harder, and the run lasts until you decide it’s over.
When you’re stuck
Undo a steal or shuffle the tiles for a fresh look. Still nothing? A hint spells the word out for you, at half the points for that move. It’s there when you need it and expensive enough that you’ll try one more time first.
Made to leave you alone
- Letter Thief plays fully offline. There’s no account to create and nothing is tracked. Your stats and streak stay on your phone.
- Over 148,000 words are accepted, so the obscure one you just remembered probably counts.
- Share your result with friends without giving away a single answer.
- Light and dark themes, haptics, sound, and a reduced-motion setting are all in Settings.
Today’s word is already waiting. See how far down you can go.
